MERCADO BARROCO: A Dream Turned Mural

At EOLEO, everything we do is done with the utmost care and dedication, always striving to give our best. MERCADO BARROCO is an example of this effort—an almost 2-meter by 2-meter mural that combines my illustration and diagram style, representing one of the most ambitious projects I have undertaken.
Inspired by Ponferrada, But Imaginary
Although this design is inspired by the streets of the old town of Ponferrada, it is not a realistic representation. Instead, it is an imaginary interpretation—a bustling Baroque market full of life and detail, with a bell tower that evokes the Basilica de la Encina and mountains that complete the scenery. It is my way of paying homage to the essence of Ponferrada but through an artistic and personal vision.
From a Small Design to a Large-Scale Project
When I started this project, my idea was much more modest. Using a home embroidery machine, I designed an initial version measuring 30x30 cm, consisting of 9 small panels of 9x9 cm. That was the largest size I could create at the time.

Over time, after acquiring my current machine, a Brother PR680W, I decided to take the idea further. I redesigned the project and expanded it into a mural composed of 77 individual panels. Each panel was embroidered with care and patience, and assembling all of them was only possible thanks to the help of my mother. This detail makes the project even more special to me.
A Project from the Heart
EOLEO is not a well-known brand, and everything I do is made with the tools, time, and effort I have. I don’t know if this mural is perfect, but I do know that I made it with all my heart. It is a project that has taught me so much—not just about embroidery, but about perseverance and the importance of having the support of those around you.
